How to Draw Dinosaurs
A step by step guide for kids and kids at heart
Drawing dinosaurs can be easy! Anyone can draw one by using basic shapes. Here is a beginner’s guide to drawing two of the most popular dinosaurs, the Stegosaurus and Brontosaurus.
How to draw a Stegosaurus
The Stegosaurus is one of the most recognisable dinosaurs. It had distinctive bony plates along its back and a spiked tail.
- Start by drawing an oval for the head.
- Add two dots for the eyes.
- Add a smile on its face.
- Below and just a bit to the side of the head, draw a big semi-circle with the curved side. This will be the body.
- To draw a neck, draw two parallel curved lines to connect the body to the head.
- Draw a big curvy tail.
- Draw four rectangles for the legs.
- Draw small half-circles on the bottom of the legs to make the toes.
- Draw diamonds on the back.
- Draw narrow triangles near the tip of the tail to add some spikes.
How to draw a Brontosaurus
The Brontosaurus is a big dinosaur with a long neck and tail.
- Start by drawing an oval for the head.
- Add two dots for the eyes.
- Add a smile on its face.
- Starting from the back of the head, draw a long neck.
- On the base of the neck, draw a bigger oval. This will be the body.
- Draw four rectangles for the legs.
- Draw small half-circles on the bottom of the legs to make toes.
- Add a very long tail.
Don’t worry if your drawings don’t look perfect. Be sure to practice more and you’ll be ready to roar!
