Why We Should Sleep (like a koala!)
Did you know that one of the most important things that kids need for their development is sleep?
According to studies, getting proper sleep of around 10-11 hours can hugely benefit a child's development throughout the years. Sleep improves the health and well-being of the child. It promotes growth, mental development, mood (we all know what happens when a kid is tired!), weight, immune system, cardiovascular health, learning and so much more.
We know getting your kids to bed one time can be a challenge, but something that has been shown to help is a bed-time routine which might include dimming the lights, a warm bath, a bedtime story and a consistent “lights out” time.
A routine may not work for everyone and we know someone who doesn’t need a routine… the koala! The adorably cute koala can sleep for up to 20 hours a day. And it’s not even because they are lazy, just that their diet provides them with very little energy, and digesting tough eucalyptus leaves also takes a lot of energy.
